Nancy J. Berry

Nancy J. (Strother) Berry, 94, of Dover passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Community Hospice Truman House.  She was born on October 21, 1929, in Shreve, Ohio to the late Ottis and Evelyn Haney Strother.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Walter J. "Bud" Berry on January 31, 2007; and a son in law, William Haswell.

Nancy had a vibrant life filled with love, faith, and community involvement. She was a member of the New Cumberland United Methodist Church and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Through her participation in these organizations, Nancy formed deep connections with her fellow church members and community members. She was also a 1947 graduate of Dover High School.

Nancy was a cherished member of her family and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her children, Raymond (Nancy) Berry of Virginia, Denise (Larry) Graham of Dover, Lesa Haswell of Cortland. Her sister, Carolyn Sue (Tom) Brown of New Philadelphia and brother, Ottis Bernard Strother of Michigan also survive her.

In addition to her children and siblings, Nancy is fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Scott (Brandy) Fisher, Dan (Brittany) Haswell, Dave (Mary) Haswell, Robert (Tammi) Duffy, Kevin Duffy; great-grandchildren, Zoe (Justin) Troyer, Joshua (Karissa), Bryan, Trey, Brandon and Hannah Duffy, Alice, Hailey, Kira and Adora Haswell; great-great-grandchildren, Rylee Jae and Raya Laine Duffy.

Nancy's generous spirit and warm heart brought joy to all those around her. Her family and friends will forever treasure the memories they shared together. Nancy was known for her kindness towards others and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A service celebrating Nancy's life will be held on Wednesday, November 29th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Harley Wheeler officiating.  Interment will be in the New Cumberland Cemetery.  The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
