Nancy J. Gilmore, 86, of Dover passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in the Community Hospice Truman House.
Born July 12, 1936 in Midvale she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Verna Brewer Marshall. Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, Laverne “Vern” Gilmore on April 7, 2016.
She retired in 2003 from Dover City Schools where she was the secretary at South School for 36 years. She was an active member of the First Moravian Church in Dover and enjoyed her time in the kitchen making Moravian Coffee Cakes. Nancy was also an avid sports fan, and absolutely loved rooting for every Dover team, no matter the sport, with her favorite being Dover football. She also followed OSU Football and the Cleveland Browns, as well as, college wrestling. Her hobbies included shopping, cooking and baking; with her favorite being cooking for her family. Nancy was a wonderful, caring and loving mother and grandmother who doted on her children, and especially her grand and great grandchildren, they were the center of her world.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Susan (Matt) Stephens of Dover, John Gilmore of Arizona; siblings, Jim (Rosie) Marshall of Hartville, Bill (Linda) Marshall of Florida, Don (Alta) Marshall of Dover, Dave (Cyndi) Marshall of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Tara (Steven) Spragg, Bri (John) Chapman, Lindsay (Brandon) Begue, Kelli (Tony) Argento, Jennalyn (Chris) Gilmore, Kristen Gilmore; she was a Gigi to Noah, Carter, Lainey Begue, Ryder Argento, and a great grandmother to Trevor, Grayson, Winter, David and Brayden.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm, and a service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 10th starting at 11:00 am in the First Moravian Church at Dover with Rev.
