Nancy Lee Springer

February 16, 1933 — March 1, 2012

Nancy Lee Mason Springer, loving wife, mother and friend to so many, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 in the Park Village Health Care Center. She was 79.

Born February 16, 1933 at Mooreville, she was the daughter of the late George and Barbara Powell Mason.

A 1950 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Nancy married the love of her life, Jay Springer, who survives, on December 27, 1953. She spent most of her working years taking care of the family home, but most certainly enjoyed her nearly 4 years as a telephone operator for General Telephone. She made many friends at the phone company over that time and always looked forward to her get-togethers with the "call girls".

She was an active member of the community, especially with Dover First Moravian Church, where she was a member of the women's fellowship and was involved in a variety of activities over the years like making the church's signature coffee cakes as well as candle wrapping.

Nancy stayed in touch with many from her graduating class and had fun planning class reunions and outings. She had a variety of interests ranging from singing and baking to knitting and travelling.

Along with her husband, Jay, she will be missed by surviving family members including: three daughters, Beth Ann Patteson & Cody Saucedo of Albuquerque, NM, Cindy (Jerry) Hisrich of Dover and Robin Springer-Vega (Joe Vega) of Alliance; seven grandchildren, Levi Mason Patteson & Becky Walsh of Albuquerque, NM, Sarah Rae Patteson of Albuquerque, NM, Jaye Brooke (David) Byers of Columbus, Madison Rene Hisrich of Dover, Arin Lee Blair & Tommy Good of Columbus, Zyler Vega of Boston and Sara Renee Saucedo of Albuquerque, NM; four great-grandchildren, Victoria Crosby of Albuquerque, NM, Kallee Bernish-Good, Lucas Craig Byers and Sophie Mason Byers all of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by: a brother, Doyle Mason; and 5 sisters, Annamae Twyman, Mildred Hostetler, Marie Harvey, Donna Beitzel and Dorothy Breitenstein.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Pastor John Wallace will lead a memorial service celebrating Nancy's life on Monday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Moravian Church, Dover. A meal will be provided in the church social hall at noon. Friends may also call in the church one-hour prior to services.

Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Nancy by visiting the "Obituaries & Flowers" link on the funeral home's website.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Nancy's memory with a memorial gift to one of three favorite organizations: The family's Walk to End Alzheimer's team website http://act.alz.org/goto/wackywalkers, Dover First Moravian Church, 319 N. Walnut St., Dover, or Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 1330 4th St NW, New Philadelphia. Envelopes will also be provided at the services.
