Nancy W. Wherley, 80, of Strasburg died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a period of declining health.
In her earlier years, Nancy was an employee of Cummins Diesel in Strasburg.
Born Oct. 7, 1935 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mildred (Ackerman) Knisely. She was also preceded by her husband of 31 years, Glenn W. "Grumpy" Wherley who died Nov. 22, 1994 and a daughter, Donna.
Nancy was active in the First Lutheran Church at Strasburg for over 50 years having served as a lay reader, member of the Altar Guild and Rachel Circle. She was also a member of the Strasburg Womens Club and Rebekah Lodge. Nancy enjoyed listening to music and playing card games.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Cheryl and Marcia Wherley both of Dover; two sisters, Margaret Travis of Sugarcreek and Leila (Jim) Beavers of New Philadelphia and two nephews, Jim Beavers and Gary Knisely.
A funeral service celebrating Nancy's life will be held Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 beginning at 1:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Pastor Karen Biggerstaff officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5pm.
