Ruth Border, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully in her home Monday evening. Born Naomi Ruth Hamilton on May 13, 1931 in Holidays Cove, W.Va., Ruth graduated from Tyler County High School in 1950. After moving to Canton, Ohio to work at the Timken Company, she met her future husband, Clifford, at a YWCA dance. Married for 61 years, they founded TV Specialties in Dover in1958.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Clifford; their son Jeffrey (Susan) Border; daughters Shelley (Donald) Detore, Diana (Michael) Barnett and Jennifer (Michael) Mulvaney; grandchildren Elizabeth Klingensmith, Laura Fenn, Joseph Detore, Taylor, Chloe and Claire Barnett, and Emma and Owen Mulvaney; five great grandchildren; and her sister, Maxine (Harold) Hoot.
Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Dover, where she was active on several committees. Ruth always had a warm smile and a kind word for everyone. She will be remembered as an elegant, hard-working lady. Her family also will remember her wonderful meals, her love of holidays and her love of family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Clyde Border officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
