Nelle Frieda (Moss) Feutz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed to the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 10, 2012, after a period of declining health. Born March 11, 1922, in Dixon, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Marjorie and Albert Moss.
Her childhood was spent in and around Chesapeake, Ohio, surrounded by her large extended family. In the spring of1941, she met Benjamin J. Feutz, who would become her husband August 23, 1941, before he left to serve his country during WWII. After his return from the service, they began a family in the Dover area. Cheryl Feutz was her first daughter. Within the next 6 years, Peggy Sue Reichman, Benjamin H. Feutz, and Gregory Feutz were born. They built a home in Columbia next to Ben's parents and remained there for their 66 years of marriage. In 2009, Nelle moved to her daughter, Cheryl's home until January, 2012, when she moved to Park Village.
For 26 years, Nelle worked at the Times Reporter; first as a proof reader and then as a member of the circulation department greeting customers at the front desk and helping paper carriers with their collections. While she worked longest at the Times Reporter, she was also proud of the fact that she worked in The Library of Congress during WWII. However, nothing was more important to her than her role as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In retirement, Nelle enjoyed hosting family dinners, playing games on her computer, and reading. She often joked that her visits to the Strasburg Library made a great boost to their circulation.
Nelle was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg, Ohio. She was a member of The Faithful Gleaner class and most recently had served on the church's Historical committee.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Cheryl Feutz of New Philadelphia, Peggy Sue Reichman of Dover, Ben H. (Fae) Feutz of Dover and Gregory Feutz of Gnadenhutten. Also surviving are grandchildren: Heath Feutz, Kelly Feutz, and Amanda Feutz; great-grandchildren Tyler J. Feutz, Madeline Moore, and Deacon Polen as well as brother-in-law, Herbert Feutz of Dover. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Benjamin J. Feutz, a sister, Ruthe McMasters and her sister-in-law, Dolly Feutz.
Calling hours are Tuesday, August 14, from 4-7 at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover and one hour before services at St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg on Wednesday, August 15, at 11 a.m with Rev.
