Nicholas J. “Nick” Contini, 87, of Dover, Ohio died Thursday, September 6, 2001 at Union Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
Nick was a retired steelworker at the Reeves Steel Company in Dover where he worked for 48 years. He was also a partner of the former M&N Drycleaning Company at Dover.
Born May 5, 1914 in Dover, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Leonardo DePallo Contini.
He was a member of the St. Joseph�(TM)s Catholic Church in Dover and the church choir. He was a wellknown vocalist in the area. He was a member of the Hall of Fame Barbershop Chorus in Canton for over 50 years and member of the Tuscarawas Barbershop Chorus. He performed with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and had sung in many area churches. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Dover Eagles Lodge where he was also formerly employed. He and his wife Lucille were former Host and Hostess of the Italian �" American Festival. He was a former member of the Dover Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and manicuring his yard. He also loved making homemade Italian pasta dishes and Easter bread. He enjoyed attending his granddaughter�(TM)s sporting events.
Nick is survived by his loving wife Lucille Carmola Contini with whom he recently celebrated 61 years of marriage September 2.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister Leonard, Rocco, Joseph, Orest, and John Contini and Florence Pace and his stepmother, Lucretia Contini.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, September 10, 2001 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover Sunday from 2-6 pm where the Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 pm.
