Nicholas R. “Nick” Hunter, 31, of Dover died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 28, 2009.
Nick was born December 11, 1977 in Dover, the son of Michelle Hunter of Dover and Steven Sherrell of Dennison.
Nick was a 1996 graduate of Dover High School where he was an athletic standout having played football, baseball, and wrestling. He was also in the Dover High School Multicultural Awareness Committee. He enjoyed coaching Pee Wee football and was also a football referee. He previously attended Kent State Tuscarawas. He is probably best known for his love of people and enjoyed interacting with everyone he would meet. He attended the First Baptist Church in Dover.
In addition to his parents, Nick is survived by a daughter, Torie M. Hunter; a brother, Steven Allen Sherrell of Uhrichsville; his maternal grandmother, Charlene Hunter of Dover and his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Sherrell of Dennison;his uncles, Reggie (Vernice) Hunter of California, Monty Hunter of New Jersey, Monte Sherrell of Bolivar and Mitchell Sherrell of Akron. He is also survived by his special friend and the mother of his daughter, Tasha Hickman along with many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Orie Hunter and Roosevelt Sherrell.
A celebration of Nick's life will be Friday, July 3, 2009 at 11am in the First Baptist Church in Dover with Pastors Christopher Lowery and Robert Sherrell officiating. Cremation will follow services and interment will be at a later date in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 5-8pm and Friday from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nicholas Hunter Memorial Fund, c/o any Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union to provide for the future of his daughter, Torie.
