Nila Dee Beitzel

Nila Dee Beitzel. Age 83, of Strasburg, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, in Union Hospital, Dover, following a brief illness.

Born Jul. 24, 1929, in Dover, she was a daughter of the late Dwight and Nina Seebach Neumiller. Dee, as she was most often called, attended Beach City High School, and as a young lady, was employed by her family's restaurant, Neumiller's, in Navarre. She married Orin "Spike" Beitzel on Jul. 13, 1946, and the couple settled in Strasburg. Dee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg, where she was on the Board of Christian Education and taught Sunday school. Additionally, Dee belonged to the Charles Hofer Post of the American Legion Auxiliary in Strasburg. Some of her favorite pastimes were going dancing, playing bingo and following the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Dee will be sadly missed by her family, which includes her loving husband, Spike; a son, Greg "Spike" Beitzel; three grandchildren, Stefanie Johnson, Shanon and Brandi Beitzel; four great-grandchildren, Morgan and Bryan Beitzel, and Samantha and Jaclynn Frye; sister, Lois Latino of Dover; sister-in-law, Mickey Gasser of New Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dee was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Beitzel; two sisters, Betty Kaylor and Anna Mae Pierce.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 232 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg, on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Brian Flood officiating.
