Norma J. Devney

Norma J. Devney nee Deibel, 94, of New Philadelphia died Sunday, July 23, 2023,  at Hennis Care Center in Dover.

Born in Dover on September 19, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Paul E. and Bertha (Archinal) Deibel. 

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert L. “Bob” Devney, Sr. They were married on July 1, 1949, and celebrated 68 years of marriage before his death in 2017. 

Norma retired after 37 years at Huntington Bank, formerly Reeves Banking and Trust. She loved to read, and read nearly all of the books in her genre of choice, at the Dover Public Library. She also loved the Times Reporter crossword puzzles and worked them daily.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover. 

Norma is survived by her children, Mary Alice Waliga of FL, Kathy Devney of New Philadelphia, and Robert Devney, Jr.; grandchildren, Jesse Smith, Augusta Waliga, John Waliga, Jessica Devney, Steven Teter, Michael Teter; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kayli Smith.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. There will be no services or calling hours. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Norma, may do so by visiting the funeral home’s website.
