Norma J. Amick

Norma J. Amick, age 75, of New Philadelphia, and a former resident of Cincinnati, died Friday, Dec. 28, in her home, with her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Amick by her side.

Born Mar. 1, 1937, in Scottsburg, IN, she was a daughter of the late Otto M. and Mary Parks Wetherald. Norma graduated from Scottsburg High School, and, on Apr. 20, 1956, married Alan Edward "Tip" Amick. The couple reared three sons and shared twenty-eight years together before Tip's passing on Apr. 1, 1984. Norma was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. in Cincinnati for twenty-five years, retiring as a supervisor in 2001. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her little great-granddaughter, Grace Lillian. Norma enjoyed cooking and baking for her loved ones, and liked going yardsaling whenever the opportunity presented itself. She also followed football and was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

She will be sadly missed by her family, which includes her three sons, Jeffrey (Patty) Amick of Columbus, Michael (Lisa) Amick of New Philadelphia, and Gregory (Annette) Amick of Evans, WV; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Tip, Norma was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffrey Michael Amick; sister, Dorothy Roberts; and her beloved dog, Bandit.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Thursday, Jan. 3, 12:30 1:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. officiated by Rev. Brian Flood. Burial will be Friday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. in the cemetery of Bethel Baptist Church of Leota near Scottsburg, IN.
