Norma J. Celce, 82, of Dover, died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Park Village Nursing Center, from complications of Parkinson's Disease.
Born, Sept. 19, 1926, in New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late William and Mildred Steffey Buckohr. Norma attended school in New Philadelphia, and, on Oct. 27, 1943, married Robert F. "Bob" Celce. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed attending the many sporting events her grandchildren participated in while they were growing up. Norma was employed as a nurses' aide in the Obstetrics Dept. of Union Hospital for many years, retiring in 1988. She was very fond of her time at the hospital, particularly that of working in the nursery.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha (Tom) Espenschied of Dover; two sons, Bob (Judy) Celce and Bill (June) Celce, both also of Dover; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Celce of Cary, NC, Scott (Melissa) Celce of West Palm Beach, FL, Jason (Katie) Celce of North Canton, Kristy (C.J.) Cook of Akron, Brian Celce of New Philadelphia, Kelly (Jason) Wallick of Winfield, Tom (Krista) Espenschied of London, Ontario, Canada, Robert Espenschied of Dover, and Michael (Shelby) Espenschied of Parma; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Destafani of New Philadelphia, and Linda (Walter) Willoughby of Dover; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and by a sister, Ethel Burrier.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 10:30 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Dode Overton of New Life Church of God in Dover officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
