Norma J. Doutt

Norma J. Doutt, 87, a long-time resident of Dover, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 surrounded by her family in her daughter Catherine's home in San Marcos, California, following a long illness.

Born July 17, 1924 in Ashtabula, Ohio, Norma was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Aritabelle Gladding Maurer. She graduated from Dover High School in 1942 and married David E. Doutt in 1945.

Besides working and retiring as a secretary for General Electric for 29 years, Norma also enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her real joys though were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Norma was a precious sister, loving and caring mother, grandmother and gma and gigi who will be greatly missed by her sisters, Wanda Hughes, Marilyn and husband Bob Fronk, Judy and husband Dick Tolloti and her sister-in-law Rita Doutt.

Her daughters Catherine and husband John Paris, who lovingly cared for her the last three years and Jan and husband Bob Chaplin.

Her grandchildren Laura and husband Brian Cox, Thad and wife Dana Parks, Steven Parks, Jason and wife Katie Chaplin and Jamie and wife Susi Chaplin.

Her great grandchildren Ashley Parks, Brendan and Gillian Cox, Thad Parks II, Perrin, Marli and Elijah Chaplin, and step great grandchildren Rowdy and Jake Bossard. She was preceded in death by her brother, Randall Maurer.

As a long-time member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a mass will be said on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:30 am with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. She will lay at rest beside her loving husband Dave at St. Joseph's Calvary Cemetery. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Friday from 5-7 pm with Christian Wake services starting at 6:45pm.
