Norma L. Wiegand

Norma Ladine Wiegand, 83, of Strasburg, Ohio died Tuesday, May 31, 2005 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover following a five month illness.

She was an employee of the former Garver Bros. Store for 27 years. She also was a former water meter reader for the Village of Strasburg and a crossing guard, and Times Reporter carrier..

Born July 1, 1921 in Strasburg, she was the daughter of the late Christ H. and Sadie A. Brand Wiegand.

She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church at Strasburg and received the Social Missions Service Award in 2005. She spent her life helping people having collected clothing for 124 people in the village. She was an animal lover having shared her life with her feline and canine companions. Norma was a 1939 graduate of Strasburg High School.

She is survived by her aunt, Mary Brand of Akron; cousins including Arline Jones, Dorothy Randles, Virginia Paddock, and Clara Krantz and many friends including her friend and neighbor, Mary Jean Luyster.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 3, 2005 at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg with Rev. Fred Grosse officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30pm to 2pm.
