Norma M. Brown, 81, of 1601 Dover Avenue, Dover, Ohio died Thursday, September 22, 2011 in the Park Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.
Norma was a former floral designer at Baker Florist in Dover and in her earlier years worked at Union Hospital.
Born January 4, 1930 in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Holders) Romig.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia and the former Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and was a 1947 graduate of Dover High School. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed traveling extensively around the world with her husband, Bill and friends Gary and Ruth Schmidt. She and Bill also enjoyed playing sequence with their good friends Ruth and Gary Schmidt and Katie and Bob Beasley.
Norma is survived by her husband of 63 years, Willard "Bill" Brown with whom she married on June 20, 1948; three children Becky Spear of Pickerington, Steve (Ruth) Brown of Bluffton, South Carolina and Connie Brown of Montrose, Colorado; six grandchildren Bryce Brown of Bluffton, SC, Shannon Brown of San Francisco, CA, Nathan (Abby) Spear of Pickerington, Stephanie (Luke) Schumacher of New York, NY, Dillon and Jordan Vessels both of Bellingham, Washington; four great grandchildren, Kelly, Jack, and William Spear and Axel Schumacher.
She was preceded in death by her son in law, Joe Vessels.
A service celebrating Norma' s life will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 at 2pm in the First Christian Church at New Philadelphia with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow the graveside service at the First Christian Church in New Phila. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Sunday from 2-5pm and at the church Monday from 1-2pm.
