Norman E. “Norm” Shook, age 90, a life-long resident of Dover, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018, in Community Hospice’s Truman House, New Philadelphia.
Born August 24, 1928, in Dover, he was the son of the late Jerd and Ida Rufner Shook. Norm graduated from Dover High School, and served honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War. He married the former Clara Mae Stalder on March 28, 1954; the couple reared three sons and shared sixty-four years of marriage prior to Clara Mae’s passing on July 24th of this year. Norm retired from Dover’s Greer Steel Company after many years there.
He was a visual artist, working with paint and camera. Norm enjoyed being outdoors and tending the yard around his home.
Survivors include his sons, Jeff (Joan) Shook of Dover, and Doug Shook of Knoxville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Chrissy (Eric) Atkins, Stephen (Jessica) and Nathan (Rosemary) Shook; and his great-grandchildren, Eowyn and Zane.
Besides his parents, and his beloved wife, Clara Mae, Norm was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Shook, and two sisters.
