Norva L. Ley, age 82, of Dover, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, in Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia, following a long illness.
Born December 7, 1931, at Mineral City, she was a daughter of the late Norman L. and Lucille (Ickes) Gintz. Norva graduated from Mineral City High School, and, on May 26, 1951, married Clarence W. Ley in St. Mary's, West Virginia. Norva was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She also provided daycare services in her home for many years. Norva was a faithful member of the Dover Alliance Church.
In addition to her husband, Clarence, Norva is survived by her two daughters, Beth Giesey and Cindy Ley (companion, Tom Renner), both of New Philadelphia; her son, Brent Ley of Dover; her grandchildren, Kari Long, Troy Giesey (wife, Erin) and Mike Long, all of Dover; her great-grandchildren, Madisen, Maggie, Claire, Ethan and Emma; her two sisters, Lois Goodyear and Glenda Ramser, both of Dover; and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Norva was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn "Sue" Cope; and her four brothers, Dean, Cletus "Red," Don and Richard Gintz.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Wednesday, August 13, 5 8 p.m., and on Thursday, August 14, 9:30 10:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Richard G. Rose officiating. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Dover Alliance Church.
