Opal F. Swinderman, 80, of Dover, Ohio passed away at Union Hospital on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 following a lengthy illness.
Born December 21, 1921 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Sadie Miller Ickes.
She was a resident of the Hennis Care Centre in Dover the past two years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia. She was also a former volunteer for Mobile Meals and a former Precinct chairwoman for the Democratic Party.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Swinderman who died April 30, 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Jack (Sandra) Shores of New Philadelphia, Randy Swinderman of Dover; a daughter, Sally (Lloyd) Herbert of Dover; Three grandsons, Mark (Yuni) Shores of Dayton, OH, Jay (Heather) Herbert, and Joel Herbert and a granddaughter, Tammi (Robert) Everett all of Dover; Four great granddaughters, Tiffani Everett, Monica Herbert, Carly Herbert, and JoHonna Shores and a great grandson, Lucas Shores.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2002 at 2 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor William Waltz officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from Noon until 2 pm.
