Orpha G. Smith, 70, of Dover passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 in her home.
Born on August 5, 1936 in Canton, she was the daughter of the late James and Lillian (Lechner) Powell. Orpha was a lifelong resident of the area.
She attended Dover High School and Akron School of Cosmetology.
She was a retired cook having worked in the Tuscarawas Valley School District for twenty six years. She was also a former beautician.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Roy with whom she would have celebrated forty nine years on June 8; two daughters, Barbara Smith and Debra Smith both of Dover.
Orpha was a member of the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene where she dearly loved her church family. She was also a former member of the Fairfield Township Fire Department�(TM)s Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed volunteering at New Cumberland Elementary and giving manicures at New Dawn Retirement Community.
Funeral services celebrating Orpha�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11am in the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene with Dr. Fred L. Wallis officiating. Interment will be in the Bissel Church Cemetery.A reception will follow in the First Nazarene Church social hall. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia on Friday (today) from 5-8pm.
