Orpha Marie Lowther

Orpha Marie Lowther, 68, of Dennison, and a long-time resident of Bolivar, died May 15, 2003, in Morning View Care Center, New Philadelphia, following a brief illness.

Born Dec. 11, 1934, in Vadis, WV, she was a daughter of the late Forrest D. and Ora Hurst Hall. She retired in 1978 from ALSCO, Sugarcreek, following fourteen years of service. Marie was a member of the ARCO Retirement Club, and she loved going to auctions and flea markets.

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda (Donald) Gaston of Ashland, AL, Mary Ellen (Don) Gardner of Norton, and Carol (Randall) Miller of Sugarcreek; two sons, Edward (Chris) Lowther of East Sparta, and Carl (Penny) Lowther of Dennison; three grandchildren, Douglas and Marisa Duff, and Kelly Foster; one great-grandson, Brennem Duff; two sisters, Evelyn (Harold) May of Dover, and Barbara Martin of Bolivar; two brothers, James Adrian (Sandy) Hall of Bolivar, and Robert (Juanita) Hall of Youngsville, PA; mother-in-law, Stada E. Lowther of Linn, WV; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred G. Lowther in 2000; and by a brother, Jerry Hall.

A funeral service will be held Monday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Strasburg, with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Burial will be in Fort Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar.
