Orval E. Schie, 86, of Beach City and formerly Strasburg, died Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Union Hospital.
Born January 9, 1926 in Holmes County, he was the son of the late Edward and Katherine Styer Schie.
He retired from LTV Republic Steel after 17 years of service.
On September 15, 1969, Orval married the love of his life, the former Shirley Reicosky, who survives. The two shared 43 wonderful years of marriage and a lifetime of memories. Shirley will fondly remember him as a wonderful husband.
An avid outdoorsman, Orval loved hunting deer, turkey or just about anything. He also had a passion for fishing and enjoyed big catches on Lake Erie as well as the family's favorite fishing spots in Florida. Orval also honorably served his country in the Marines during the Korean Conflict and was a Methodist by faith.
Along with Shirley, other surviving family members include: a daughter, Christine; a brother, Gerald (Bertha) Schie of Strasburg; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Sweetheart his yellow lab rescue dog.
In addition to his parents, Orval was preceded in death by: infant brothers, Melvin brothers Allen, Vernon, Floyd and Art; and his sister, Ruth.
There are no public services or calling hours. Orval's cremation has been entrusted to the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover.
