Oscar G. Jelinek

Oscar G. Jelinek, 85, of Dover died on Friday, January 18, 2008 in his home.

Born February 13, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Oscar J. and Freida Aerni Jelinek. He married the love of his life, Ethel Arnold Jelinek, who preceded him in death on October 12, 1992. Together they had five children.

Oscar was a Marine veteran and served our country during WWII. He later retired from Eliza Jennings Nursing Home in Cleveland, where he was a clerk for many years. He enjoyed bowling and gardening.

He is survived by: four sons; James A. Jelinek, of Dover, Donald (wife, Ann) Jelinek of Columbus, Ohio, Kenneth Jelinek of Parma, Ohio, Ronald (wife, Diane) Jelinek of Garfield Heights; a daughter, Barbara Ann VanTyl of Parma, Ohio and four granddaughters and a grandson.

A celebration of Oscar's life will take place on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 12:00 pm at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover with Pastor William E. Deist officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Bedford, Ohio at a later Date. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday from 11-12:00 pm.
