P. Joel Kastor, 68, of Dover died Friday, February 16, 2001 at St. Thomas Hospital at Akron following complications from hip surgery.
He retired in 1995 from Gen Corp. at Newcomerstown where he was a Chemical Engineer. He had also worked at Goodyear Aerospace for ten years.
Born October 16, 1932 in Johnstown, Ohio he was a son of the late William and Lois Scott Kastor.
He was a member of First Moravian Church at Dover where he served as an Elder and Trustee and was also a Deiner. He was a member of Tuscarawas Lodge #59 F & AM at Dover, Royal Arch Masons at New Philadelphia, Tadmor Shrine at Akron, Dover Elks, and the Dover Gun Club. He served as Worshipful Master two times and was a Past District Deputy. He graduated from Mineral City High School in 1950, Kent State University in 1958 and was an Army Veteran. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and walking.
Joel is survived by his wife Charlotte Eash Kastor with whom he celebrated 43 years of marriage on September 1, 2000.
He is also survived by one daughter: Kelly and Scottie McCune of Dover
Granddaughter: Kyle McClead of Dover
Daughter-in-law: Brenda Kastor of New Philadelphia
In addition to his parents, Joel was preceded in death by a son: Scott Kastor
Two sisters: Irene Kastor and Gretchen Starkey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at 1:30 pm in the First Moravian Church at Dover with Pastor Allen Bergmann officiating. Interment will be at the New Cumberland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
