Patricia Ruth Renner

Patricia Ruth Renner, 78, of Bolivar, died Thursday, Mar. 12, 2009, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born, Sept. 15, 1930, in Killbuck, she was a daughter of the late Kingdom Percell and Ollie Mae Escue Duncan. Patricia graduated from Big Prairie High School, and, on May 28, 1953, married Harold A. Renner. She was a devoted homemaker, who found special joy in her grandchildren when they came along. Patricia liked to garden and cook, and she often canned fruits and vegetables for her family's use. She and Harold were fond of baseball and attended many of the former Canton-Akron Indians' games. Baseball was also a television staple in Patricia's home.

Survivors include three sons, Michael (Julia) Renner of Bolivar, Frank Renner of New Philadelphia, and Steve (Bonnie) Renner of Dover; two daughters, Barbara (Joseph) Gibson of Canton, and Ronda (John) Sgambellone of Delaware, OH; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jim (Eleanor) Duncan of Nashville, OH, Robert (Olive) Duncan of Big Prairie, Ronald (Rita) Duncan of Gary IN, and Thomas (Susan) Duncan of Fairmont, WV; four sisters, Dorothy (Jim) Crews of Toledo, Grace Tuttle of Wooster, Myrtle Scott of Big Prairie, and Susan (Floyd) Proper of Shreve; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold, on Dec. 21, 2007; a daughter, Patsy Renner; three brothers, Harry, Charles Edward and Kenneth Duncan; and by a sister, Pauline Payne.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Mar. 16, at 2 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Don Snow of Calvary Baptist Church in New Philadelphia officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg. Following the committal, there will be a meal in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
