Patrick H. Bowen

Patrick H.Bowen, age 47, of Strasburg, died Thursday, July 26, 2012, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Born April 25, 1965, at Dover, he was the son of Connie (nee Deuker) Bowen Young of Navarre, and the late Timothy Bowen. Patrick graduated from Strasburg High School in 1983, and attended Kent State University. On December 20, 1994, he married the former Connie Swihart at Hilton Head, SC. He was employed by Fairway Lawn Care at Bolivar.

Patrick loved the game of golf, he studied golf course design, and was formerly employed by Oak Shadows Golf Club at New Philadelphia, which he helped build. He played in a Tuesday night league at Oak Shadows. Patrick was a gardener, growing vegetables and flowers, and he also worked with stained glass, exhibiting and winning awards at the Tuscarawas Co. Fair. He enjoyed Formula One Racing, as well as photography, and often blended the two taking pictures at races. He and Connie shared an affection for English Bulldogs, owning many over the years. Patrick was easy-going and never met a stranger, plus he had a special ability to recall people's names. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Connie, and his mother, Patrick is survived by his daughter, Marissa Wiandt of Columbus, GA; his step-father, Ken Young of Navarre; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Virginia Deuker of Loris, SC; his mother-in-law, Pat Deibel of Dover; his best friend, Adam Fulton of New Philadelphia; his brother-in-law, Robert Swihart of Beach City; aunts, uncles and cousins, including Ken and Lori Deuker of Loris.

Besides hisfather, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Moyne and Lilliemae Zimmerman; and by his aunt, Lisa Zimmerman.

Patrick was an organ donor, and his family takes comfort in the fact that others will be helped through the selfless expression of his wishes.
