Paul A. Feller, age 89, of Dover, Ohio passed away on Thursday, October 09, 2014 at the Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia.
A son of the late Edward and Nora Rinehart Feller, Paul was born in Dover on April 3, 1925. Paul was a graduate of the Dover High School Class of 1943. He was a combat veteran during WWII in the South Pacific Theater in the US Army Infantry. He was recently honored by the Ohio Patriot Guard.
As a teenager, at age 13, Paul began working on several local farms. While working for the Arthur Karling Family Farm, he met his future wife, Katherine Karling, whom he married on June 15, 1947. Together they raised four children in Winfield, where they enjoyed being active in the Winfield Church, 4-H, and the grange. The couple was married 65 years before Katherine preceded him in death on September 15, 2012.
Paul retired from Reliable Auto Parts in Dover where he was a machinist for over 27 years.
A charter member of the Tusco Traveliers Camping Club and former member and officer of the Akron WBCCII Airstream Club, they enjoyed many years of traveling and camping. They spent 14 winters in Florida, where he served on the Volunteer Fire Department. He attended both Dover Alliance Church and the Dover First Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and Judson Feller.
Paul is survived by his daughter; Kathy Feller of Dover; three sons, Lee Feller (companion, Brenda Caudill) of Kentucky, Dennis (wife, Lynne) Feller of Strasburg, Jim (wife, Jenny) Feller of Redding, California; seven grandchildren; Chris Feller, Amy Stephens, Keith Feller, Sarah Cecil, Ryan Feller, Alicia Perry, and Richard Feller; 14 great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; along with his special niece, Shirley Homan.
In honoring Paul's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A memorial service will take place 12:00 pm with Chris Mulpas from the Dover First Christian Church officiating. Following the service, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
