Paul E. Porter, 89, of Dover died Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the Amherst Meadows Senior Care Center at Massillon.
Born January 4, 1927 in Dennison he was a son of the late Paul W. and Maude Dietrich Porter. Paul was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth E. Porter, on April 1, 2012; sisters, Frances Welsch, Thelma Freeman, Vinda Bietzel and brother, Earl Porter.
Paul retired in 1989 as a Receiving Clerk at Gradall after 36 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in New Philadelphia where he served as an Elder, Deacon and Trustee; Tuscarawas Lodge #59 F & AM in Dover, where he received his 50 year membership pin, and the Scottish Rite Lodge in Canton.
Paul will be sadly missed by his a son, Alan (Kathy) Porter of Canal Fulton; five grandchildren, Michell (Mark) Hoover and Jennifer (Eric) Neitz both of Canal Fulton, Shannon (Barbi) Porter-Wiggins of Jackson Township, Christopher (Abby) Porter of Uniontown, and Jodi Porter of Canal Fulton; seven great grandchildren, Megan, Christian, Nicholas, Tyler, Payten, Maddex, and Kelsey.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Chad Durfee officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, a luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends can call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 pm with Masonic services starting at 7.
