Paul Jones, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 10, 2006, surrounded by his loving family.
He retired from Hardy Coal Co. after having worked in the coal industry for 43 years.
Born December 30, 1922 in Dundee he was a son of the late Ray and Ida Penrod Jones.
Paul was a member of First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia and was an Army Air Corp. veteran of WW II. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid sports fan who followed the Browns, Indians, Cavs and the Buckeyes. But most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Everhart Jones with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on February 27, 2006.
He is also survived by a son, Terry (Margie) Jones of Dover; daughter, Penelope (John) Clark of Deersville; sister, Lucille (Kenn) Hofacker of Dundee; five grandchildren, Timothy (Cheryl) Jones, Meg Heald, Thomas (Debbie) Jones, Jennifer (Darrell) Wilcox and Theodore (Jennifer) Jones; 11 great grandchildren, Drew and Madeline Jones, Catherine and Emma Heald, Allyson, Jack and Anne Jones, Dyllen and Jennah Wilcox and Jacob and Matthew Jones; brother in law, Walter Swihart of Sugarcreek.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Jones and two sisters, Faye Jones and Katherine Swihart.
In keeping with Paul�(TM)s Dundee roots, funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2006 at 1:00 pm in the Dundee United Methodist Church with Pastor Cam South and Pastor Ray Garvin officiating. Interment will be in the Dundee Cemetery. Friends can call at the church from 11:00 am until the time of services on Monday. The Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory in Dover are handling arrangements.
