Paul. M. Lane, 80, of Dennison, Ohio died Friday, February 25, 2005 in his home following an extended illness.
Paul was a retired supervisor for Buckeye Pipeline inn Pennsylvania.
Born February 16, 1925 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late George W. Lane and Etta Lane Cox. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Lester Cox, a grandson, Michael Esswein along with five brothers and five sisters.
Paul was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having served with the 1370th Military Police Company. He received the American Theater Ribbon, APT Ribbon, Victory Medal, Meritorius Unit Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3463, Bolivar American Legion, was Past Commander of the Three Rivers County Council, Past Commander of the 6th District VFW, and Life member of the Dover Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.
Paul is survived by his wife, Delores Grooms Lane with whom he would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on March 18; He is also survived by one son, Robert D. (Vicky) Lane of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; two daughters, Helen (Glen) Esswein of Woodruff, Wisconsin and Sandra (Kurt) Bennett of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Tammy (Steve) Pocius, Jenifer (Tom) Witak, Amy Jo Esswein, Jessica Lane, Miranda Bennett, Tim Shepard, and Matt Clinesmith; four great grandchildren, Bridget Reinke, Kimberly Lane, Abigail Lane, and Hunter Witak and his beloved companions, his dog, Jack and his cat, Cookie Two.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover with Pastor Richard Rothrock officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the VFW and American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 pm.
