Paul E. McCoy, 81, of Beach City passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center in Canton following a suspected heart attack.
He was born in Canton on January 29, 1943 to the late D. and Geraldine Leach McCoy. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Cliff McCoy.
Paul's journey through life was characterized by hard work and unwavering commitment to his family. After graduating from Fairless High School in 1961, he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War as a member the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1967. Following his military service, Paul embarked on a successful career path that led him to spend 25 years as a truck driver before eventually co-owning Dover Brake for an impressive 40 years.
Known for his strong work ethic and selflessness, Paul always put his family first. His dedication to providing for his loved ones was evident in everything he did. Outside of work, Paul found joy in simple pleasures such as relaxing in his recliner and passionately supporting Cleveland's sports teams. His enthusiasm extended to following the Strasburg girls softball team with great interest. Paul was a proud member of the Canton Baptist Temple and the Beach City Lions Club.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Robin Miller McCoy, whom he married on April 3, 1971. He is also survived by his sons, Matthew McCoy of Beach City and Edwin McCoy of Strasburg; along with his brother, Gary McCoy of Dayton; and sister, Doris Rash of Canton.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover. A private celebration of Paul's life will be held at a later date.
