Paul P. Zimmerman, 91, of Dover died Thursday, August 12, 2004. Born December 24, 1912 in Gnadenhutten, Paul was the son of the late Joseph and Ida Romaine (Gram) Zimmerman. He was a lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, having lived in Gnadenhutten until 1965 when he and his wife moved to Dover.
He graduated from Gnadenhutten High School in 1930, attended Muskingum College, and Hemphill Diesel School in Detroit.
On November 15, 1936, he married Violet (Mathias) Zimmerman in the John Heckewelder Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Their two children are Ronald Paul of Riverside, California and Marilyn Sue (Richard) Rainsberger of Dover.
He was a member of the Dover First Moravian Church, AARP, and the ham radio club. He retired from Gradall in 1977 after 27 years of service.
Along with his wife and two children, he is survived by two grandchildren: Heather (Tim) Wolf of Pella, Iowa; Philip (Erin) Rainsberger of Moon Township, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; a great-grandson, Cole Rainsberger of Moon Township, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Grace Day of Gnadenhutten. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest and Frederick; and one sister Ruth Baker.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Allen Bergmann officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park.
