Paul W. Shepherd, 77, of Dover, died Thursday, Mar. 3, 2005, in his home following a brief illness.
Born Mar. 5, 1927 in Dover, he was a son of the late Sanford and Bessie Luyster Shepherd. Paul served in the U.S. Army Infantry and the Army Air Corps during World War II, some of that time in Okinawa, Japan. On Mar. 10, 1950, he married the former Beverly Jean McCoy. The two spent fifty-three wonderful years together until Beverly�(TM)s death in 2003.
Paul retired from the Timken Roller Bearing Co., Canton, in 1982, as a turret lathe operator and instructor following thirty-two years of service. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia, the Dover post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Strasburg Masonic Lodge. Paul was a pilot, he enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard, and he had a pond where he raised bass and bluegill.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula (John) Bostrom of New Philadelphia, and Inez (Bruce) Randulic of Mineral City; a son, Jeffery (Pam) Shepherd of New Philadelphia; six grandchildren, Arthur Paul and Travis Hostetler, Shawn and Melinda Powers, and Krystal Lynn and Amber Rae Shepherd; four great-grandchildren, Tristian, Hunter, Cody and Nick Hostetler.
In addition to his parents, and his beloved wife Beverly, Paul was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Shepherd.
A service, open to all who wish to attend, will be held Monday, Mar. 7, at 1:30 p.m., in the mausoleum at East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia, with Rev. James Taggart officiating.
