Pauline E. Sickels

Pauline E. Sickels, 84, of Medina, Ohio and formerly of Tuscarawas Ave., Dover died Monday morning in Medina General Hospital following a brief illness.

Born March 1, 1925 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Clara (Espenschied) Smutz.

Pauline was a former member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping and playing numerous card games.

Her husband, Russell Sickels preceded her in death on April 20, 1973. She was also preceded by a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Mathies.

Pauline is survived by her son Harold (wife, Linda) Sickels of Medina and her daughter, Karen (husband, Robert) Hopkins of New Philadelphia. She is also survived by five grandchildren James (wife, Laura) Sickels and their sons David and Daniel of Wadsworth; Brenda (husband, Brian) Carino and children Katelyn and Kyle of Medina; Katheryn Mathies and her daughter, Victoria of Florida; Kimberly (husband, Eric) Maurer and daughters, Amanda, Emily, and Jennifer of Dover; Amy Mansfield and fianc Dave Newland of New Matamoras, Ohio.

Rev. Michael Lowry will officiate funeral services on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2pm.
