Pauline Johnson, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Christmas Eve in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover.
Born Apr. 4, 1914, Pauline was a daughter of the late James and Philomena Antonine DeSerio. She attended school in Roswell, and, on July 11, 1936, married Virgil Johnson, from then on, except for World War II, the couple was inseparable. Pauline had been employed by the former Belmont Stamp and Enameling Co., New Philadelphia, but mostly she was a homemaker. Her life revolved around her family and her faith.
Pauline was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Philadelphia, and its Altar Society. She had a twin sister, Angeline “Angie” DeSerio, who died earlier this year. The two always dressed alike in the same smart attire, and were fixture at Sacred Heart.
Pauline enjoyed baking, especially pastries, pies and cakes. She and Virgil liked traveling the United States and Canada, and going out to eat.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Lahm; a brother-in-law, Eugene Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and sister Angie, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil, in 1999; sisters, Lydia Fox and Mary Giumenti; and brothers, Joseph and Louis DeSerio.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 28, at 10:30 a.m., in Sacred Heart Church, with Msgr. George J. Schlegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth�(TM)s Cemetery, Roswell. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 5-7 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 7 in the funeral home.
