Pauline T. Gombos, a longtime Dover resident went to be with her Lord on her 81st birthday at Union Hospital following health complications.
Pauline assisted her husband, Dr. Stephen Gombos in his dental practice for nearly 55 years.
Born Nov. 30, 1933 in Newton Falls, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Berger) Prelac. In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by a brother, John and two sisters, Kay and Mary.
Pauline was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and a 50 year member of the Croatian Lodge. She is most remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was a gourmet cook and wonderful homemaker. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and was a member of Steve's Molar Rollers.
She will be sadly missed by her family including her husband of 59 years, Steve, whom she married on Aug. 27, 1955; three children, Rosey Gombos and Stephen R. Gombos and his companion, Kim all of Dover and Theresa (Dr. Michael) Jakupca of Jackson; four grandchildren, Erin Gombos, Stephen (Rebecca) Gombos, Rachel Gombos and Patrick Jakupca; two great grandchildren, Riley and Leah along with a brother, George (Betty) Prelac of Newton Falls and two sisters, Ann (Bob) Shaw of Texas and Regina (Bruce) Maxwell of Atlanta, Georgia.
A funeral mass celebrating Pauline's life will be held Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 beginning at 10:00am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Newton Falls. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Thursday from 5-8pm with Christian Wake services at 7:45pm. The Gombos family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and physicians at Union Hospital for the wonderful care she received during her recent stay.
