Peter J. Damiene, 83, of Dover passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, October 24, 2010 following a brief illness.
Born on January 10, 1927 in Lima, Ohio he was the son of the late Joseph and Angeline Milyiori Damiene. He married Nancy Heter on December 17, 1966.
He honorably served our country in the United States army during World War II. Shortly after returning from the Army, he attended medical school at John Carol University.
In 1998, he retired as a business consultant and owned and operated Green Acres Recreational Vehicle Sales in Dover. Peter was previously employed as a department manager for Montgomery Ward�(TM)s Store and had his insurance and real estate licenses.
Peter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover and served as the past president of the Dover Exchange Club. He enjoyed flying for both business and pleasure and owned his own airplane. Peter served as a member of the New Philadelphia Airport Commission. He loved to travel as well as cook and often shared his favorite recipes. First and foremost important to Peter was his family. He liked nothing better than being with his wife and five daughters, their children and their children�(TM)s children.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he sadly leaves behind his five daughters; Dee Dee (Jon) Trainor of Silver Lake, Chris (Tom) Mills of Coshocton, Angela (John) Clark of Beach City, Cindy (Tom) Sutherland of Columbus, Kelly (Darrell) Sparks of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Amy (Bob) Daymon, Matt Trainor, Karen Mills, Mark (Tiffany) Mills, Adam (Marietta) Clark, Jacob and Lucas Clark and Ryan and Heather Smith; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine (Ed) Fox of Dover, and Frances Mears of Strasburg, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A sister; Anita Barnhart; a brother; Frank Damiene as well as his parents precede Peter in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover with Father Jim Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph�(TM)s Calvary Cemetery in Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct a military graveside service. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 from 6-8 pm. A Christian Wake service will take place at 8:00 pm.
