Phyllis A. Roberts

Phyllis A. Roberts, age 91, of Dover, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Community Hospice Truman House, New Philadelphia.

Born February 13, 1931, in Woodsfield, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Hallie Heddleson McGarry. Phyllis married Raymond J. Roberts on April 2, 1948; the couple had seven children and shared 64 years of marriage prior to Raymond’s passing on June 12, 2012. Phyllis was a loving homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers. Phyllis was a member of Grace Community Fellowship in Akron.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Garrett (Geri) Roberts of Canton, Patricia (Bill) Alspaugh of Bolivar, Delven (Carolyn) Roberts of East Canton, and Anita (Curtis) Clark of Dover; her daughters-in-law, Connie, Cindy and Fran; her 12 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Raymond, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sons, Jeffrey, Samuel and Mitchel Roberts; her brother, Mark McGarry; her sister, Zelma (McGarry) Fogle; and her infant sister, Verbie McGarry.

Family and friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Wednesday, February 8, 1 - 2 p.m. A service celebrating Phyllis’ life will follow at 2, officiated by Pastor David Botha. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park. After the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
