Phyllis Jean Margletta

December 27, 1949 — March 2, 2008

Phyllis Jean Margletta, 58, of Dover passed away peacefully on March 2, 2008 in the loving home of her brother and sister in law Leonard and Mary Jane Margletta. She waged a valiant fight against cancer the past four years, and truly inspired family, friends co-workers and her medical providers.

Phyllis was the youngest child of the late Phillip and Irma Zuchegno Margletta, and was born on December 27, 1949.

She was a proud 1967 graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Malone College. Phyllis was a loyal and dedicated employee and worked for over 25 years in management for GTE having been employed in New Philadelphia, Marion and Indianapolis. She is recently retired from EBSCO Industries in Canton where she worked as a supervisor.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was an advisor on the David Myers Scholarship Fund at Tuscarawas Central Catholic and was also a member of the Quota Club in Canton where she served as an officer for many years. The Quota Club honored her for her commitment to the deaf and women and children of domestic violence. She represented her club at many international conventions throughout the world. Phyllis volunteered countless hours at St. Joseph Schools, Tuscarawas Central Catholic and the Harbor House where her homemade pies were famous. She also enjoyed traveling and has visited Singapore, Russia, Ireland, Australia, Paris, Hawaii and had made numerous trips to Italy with her father. Phyllis was an avid sports fan who loved figure skating and attended many world championships and the Olympics. She also enjoyed watching Tuscarawas Central Catholic, all Cleveland professional teams, but her favorite was rooting for her beloved Notre Dame. She had attended a home game every year and will be sadly missed at the football parties.

Phyllis is survived by her brother, Leonard (Mary Jane) Margletta of Dover; sisters, Kathleen (Lynn) Reardon of Iowa and Andrea White and her fianc David Bennington of Dover; God daughters, Dr. Susan (Jack) Margletta Harmon, Christine (David) White Byrd; nephew, Jeff Margletta and nieces, Julie (Sean) Thompson, Elizabeth Kohler, Kelly Reardon, Colleen Brooks and Laura (Michael) Stewart; her devoted cousin Joseph "Jack" Petrella; high school friend, Charlotte Kostelic and close friend, Jenny Warner.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11:00 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 5-8 pm with Rosary services starting at 7:45 pm. Following in her father's footsteps, Phyllis quietly helped family, friends and strangers in need, never expecting to be repaid. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
