R. Naomi Gill, age 90, a long-time resident of Baertown Rd. N.W., Dover, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.
Born April 28, 1925, at Big Run, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Columbus and Mary Jane Cross Byard, Naomi attended school in West Virginia, and, on July 27, 1945, married Clarence A Gill. The couple moved to Ohio in the mid-1950's. Naomi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a member of the Believer's Assembly at Beach City.
Some of her favorite pastimes were quilting, putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing dominos, raising chickens and ducks, and caring for the cats that she owned over the years. Additionally, Naomi enjoyed activities with her grandchildren, including playing softball.
Survivors include her daughter, Fay (Leo) Tressell of Dundee; her son, Roger (Carolyn) Gill of Beach City; her five grandchildren, Angel Herbert of New Philadelphia, Tony (Jeannie) Damron of Baltimore, Ohio, Jason (Melissa) Gill of Dalton, Jim (Katy) Gill of Beach City, and Jessica (Donald) Badger of West Salem; her fourteen great-grandchildren, Lacey, Brooke and Jake Herbert, Gavin, Savannah, Mason and Hadly Gill, Noah, Luke and Andy Gill, Kelsey and Kaley Badger, Becky and Cari Cooley; her sister, Dolly (Simon) Gump of Kimbolton; her many nieces and nephews; and her special neighbors and friends, Bill and Mary Alleshouse of Dover.
Besides her parents, Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on March 31, 2004; her granddaughter, Rev. Jennifer Gill (Naomi passed on the sixteenth anniversary of Jennifer's death); her four sisters and six brothers.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor David Wing officiating. Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery at Beach City. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard, Dover. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, March 11, 5 8 p.m.
