Ralph L. Javens, Sr., 87, of Dover died at his home on Sunday, April 15, 2007.
He retired from Union Camp in 1985 after 25 years of service.
Born December 8, 1919 in Dover he was a son of the late Frank and Wilda Bose Javens. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Javens; two sisters, Peg Jeandrevin and Janet Larkin.
Ralph was an avid motorcyclist, who took many motorcycle trips particularly to the west coast with his son. He was a Charter and a Life member of the All American Indian Motorcycle Club. Ralph also served his country during WW II as a Field and Coastal Artillery Sergeant having been in the Pacific Theatre from 1942 to 1946. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Dover VFW.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Josephine Frank Javens, with whom he would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on September 16, 2007. He is also survived by three sons, Tim Javens and Jeff Javens both of Dover and Ralph (Sally) Javens of Cincinnati; daughter, Teena (Denny) McCreery of Dover; three grandchildren, Samantha and Jackie McCreery and Rick Balcarcel.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 10:30 am in the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Dover where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
