Ralph Sommers, 84, of Winfield died Saturday, December 9, 2000 at his home following an extended illness.
He retired from Edwards Trucking at Strasburg after many years of service.
Born December 24, 1915 in Holmes County, Ohio he was a son of the late Arletus and Nellie Snyder Sommers.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Winfield, Dover-Zoar Gun Club and the Dover Eagles.
Ralph is survived by his wife Elsie Wallick Sommers with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on June 2, 2000.
He is also survived by two daughters: Doris and John Maurer of Dover
Judy and Dale Penrod of Bolivar
Brother: Christian and Mabel Sommers of Dover
Two sisters: Orpha and Roy Yoder of Sugarcreek
Catherine and Russell Reiger of New Philadelphia
6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren
He was also preceded in death by son: Darrel Sommers
One sister and an infant son.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Pastor Roger Thompson officiating. Interment will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery at Winfield. Following the committal service, a reception will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8 pm with Eagles service starting at 7:45.
