Ray E. Halter, 84, of Dover, died Friday, August 23, 2002 in Union Hospital.
He had been a longtime employee of General Telephone having retired in 1980 after 33 years of service.
Born September 23, 1917 at Dover, he was son of the late Raymond & Pearl Kline Halter.
Ray served as a sharpshooter in the Army Air Corps while stationed at the Panama Canal during World War II.
A life member of the NRA, Ohio Rifle Club and member of the Zoar Road Gun Club and Tusco Gun Club, he was a skilled small-bore trap shooting champion.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Miller) Halter, with whom he celebrated his 58th wedding anniversary this past Thursday, August 22.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27, at 1:30pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 5-8pm.
