Ray R. Stilgenbauer, age 93, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Country Club Retirement Campus, Dover, following a brief illness.
Born March 3, 1921, in Adams Township, Coshocton County, he was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Regula) Stilgenbauer. Ray graduated high school, and served honorably with the United States Army during the Second World War. He retired from the former Goshen Dairy in New Philadelphia in 1982, following forty-seven years of service.
Ray was a devoted family man, who in his spare time enjoyed bowling, golf, and following the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Yaggi) Stilgenbauer, whom he married March 23, 1957; his daughters, Judy Siber of Strasburg, and Sally (Ken Abbuhl) Reichman of Tuscarawas; his sons, Tom (Marla) Stilgenbauer of New Philadelphia, Richard (Lisa) Stilgenbauer of Dover, Jeffrey (Ruthie) Stilgenbauer of Cincinnati, and Robert (Sharon) Stilgenbauer of Sugarcreek; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Scherer) Stilgenbauer, on January 20, 1956; his three sisters, Catherine Stilgenbauer, Louise Neiss and Arline Froelich Stucky; and his infant brother.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, at 12:30 p.m., in Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Rd. S.W., New Philadelphia, with Rev. Frank Sapp, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. After the committal, there will be a luncheon in the church social hall.
