Raymond E. Butts

Raymond E. Butts, 82, of Dover passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 2, 1942 in Dover and was a son of the late William Butts and Mary Edwards Berndt.   Raymond was also preceded in death by his sisters, Deborah Smith, Ramona Rohr and his stepfather, Warren Berndt.

He retired in 2002 from Endres Floral after 37 years of service.  Always one to stay busy, Raymond also worked for Twin City Greenhouse for many years.  He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, and in his spare time, he enjoyed going to car shows.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Rennicker Butts whom he married on January 17, 1965; daughter, Erin Walton (companion, Larry Phillabaum) of Dundee; sisters, Cheryl Rennicker of New Philadelphia, Karen Veneables of Orrville; brothers, Leonard Butts of Orrville, Vic Berndt of Florida; grandchildren, Michael (Nikki) May, Michelle (Mark) Geer, Cassandra May, Garr Phillabaum; eight great grandchildren; and his beloved dogs, Trinity and Holly.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover.  A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at a later date.
