Raymond C. “Bud” Hixenbaugh, 77, of Dover, Ohio died Friday, November 5, 2004 in Union Hospital following an extended illness.
Bud retired in 1989 from the Greer Steel Company at Dover where he worked for over 37 years.
Born July 15, 1927 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Carl Dean and Ivy Irene Edgar Hixenbaugh.
He attended the First Christian Church at Dover. He served in the US Army Air Corp. during World War II. He was a life member of the Dover VFW, member of the Steelworkers Union, and enjoyed fishing and camping. As a hobby, he enjoyed doing small engine repair following his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J. Pringle Hixenbaugh who died September 23, 2002. He is survived by three daughters and two sons Joyce Peters of Dover, Shirdon “Butch” (Chris) Hixenbaugh of New Philadelphia, Judy (Wayne) Thomas of Dover, Pamela (Dean) Lautzenheiser of Dover, and Jerry (Patti) Hixenbaugh of Stone Creek. Seven grandchildren Eric David Peters of Cocoa, Florida, Matthew and Nathan Thomas of Dover, Molly and Mandy Lautzenheiser of Dover, and Todd and Brittany Hixenbaugh of Stone Creek; two step grandchildren Scott (Randi) Corbin of New Philadelphia and Sherry (Russ) Pringle of Strasburg; and a sister, Gladys Sims of Falling Water, West Virginia.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son in law, David Peters and a brother, William Hixenbaugh.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 8, 2004 at 3pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Kenard Parrott officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
