Raymond ''Pete'' Minor

Raymond “Pete” Minor, 75 of Strasburg, died Monday, April 15, 2002.

He retired in 1988 from Empire Detroit Steel at Dover where he had worked for more than 20 years.

Born May 29, 1926 at Flushing, Ohio, he was son of the late Jack & Nellie Ramella Minor.

Pete was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church for 53 years.

The “Tiger Timer” for many years, operating the scoreboard time clock at Strasburg High basketball games, Pete was an avid sports fan. He loved watching his grandchildren participate for local teams, enjoyed golfing, bowling in leagues and had also officiated football and basketball games.

He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling with family and friends.

Pete is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Haswell Minor, whom he wed on March 6, 1949.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 12:00pm in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Wednesday (tonight) from 6-9pm and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
