Reta Long Porter , 82, of Dover, Ohio died Sunday, July 24, 2005 in Union Hospital.
Reta was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1923, a daughter of the late Martin Van and Mary Anderson Long.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Porter who died December 30, 1995. They were married on Nov. 11, 1949. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Van and Charles Long, a sister, Mary Riffle along with one niece and two nephews.
Reta is survived by her brother in law, Robert A. Riffle of Penn Hills, Pa. and a niece and two nephews. In addition, Reta is survived by three stepsons, John Jr., Harry, and Frederick Porter and step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and the Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Dayton, Virginia. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover.
Reta and John transferred to the Charleston, W. Va. area from Murrysville, Pa. in 1970 and remained in that area until John�(TM)s retirement. In 1987, they moved to Dover.
Funeral services celebrating Reta's life will be held Thursday at 1pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Rev. Lee Eilert officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover.
