Richard A. Mckenzie

Richard "Dick" McKenzie, 60, of Dover died on Friday,
February 7, 2009 in Union Hospital in Dover.

Born March 9, 1948 in Dover, Ohio he was the son of Elva Siers McKenzie and the late Robert McKenzie.

He graduated from Dover High School in 1967. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Tusco Riffle Club and a former member of the Buckeye Bass Masters. He was also a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg and the New Philadelphia VFW.

Dick entered the United States Army on December 7, 1967. He served our country during Vietnam and received a purple heart. He was a helicopter pilot and a right gunner. He was honorably discharged on July 11, 1969.

He retired as a self-employed construction worker in 1993.

In addition to his mother, Elva Siers McKenzie, other
survivors include; his wife, Alice Stroup of Dover; two sons, Josh (Missy) McKenzie of Strasburg, and USMC
Corporal Tyler (Caitlin) McKenzie of Port Washington; a step-daughter, Debbie (Scott) Jarvis of Dover; a step-son, Christopher (Kristen) Randles of Hilliard, Ohio; two grandchildren, Hunter and Kylie McKenzie of Strasburg, and he was expecting a new grandbaby in August; three step-grandchildren, Gage Miller and Riley Jarvis both of Dover and Trevor Randles of Hilliard, Ohio; his two brothers, Robert (Debbie) McKenzie of Dover and Mark (Martha) McKenzie of Punta Gorda, Florida; two sisters, Sharon (Bruce) Daniels of Dover, and Kim (Bruce) Grimm of Summerville, South Carolina .

A private family service will be held on Tuesday at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover. Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 pm. In honoring Dick's wishes, cremation will follow the service.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests making monetary donations in Dick's name to the American Heart Association, PO Box 182039, Columbus, Ohio 43218.
