Richard C. “Dick” Wilson, 93, of Dover passed away at Majora Health Care in Millersburg on Friday, February 1, 2019.
Born on November 19, 1925, in Union Furnace, Ohio, he was the son of the late Raymond and Murle (Goff) Wilson. Dick graduated from Magnolia High School with the class of 1943. He honorably served our country in the United States Navy where he was a medic during WWII. Dick worked at Magnolia Mining for many years and later retired from James Brothers Coal Company in Magnolia.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and traveling. He was a member of Dover Alliance Church.
On November 3, 1946, he married Dona Ley, who survives. He will also be sadly missed by his daughters, Marlene (John) Peterson of Connecticut and Martha (Larry) Lotz of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; his sisters-in-law, Lois Wilson of Westerville, and Ruth Wilson of Huntington, West Virginia; three grandsons, Michael (Kim) Lotz, Mark (Molly) Lotz, J. Eric (Lindsay) Peterson; along with eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Joe Wilson.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at Dover Alliance Church on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 11:00 am with Rev. Rick Rose officiating. Immediately following the service military honors will take place at the church. A meal will be served in the church social hall. Interment will take place Greenlawn Cemetery in Sandyville. Friends are invited to call at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Arrangements are being handled through the care of Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Dover Alliance Church, 228 E. 3rd St., Dover, Ohio 44622.
