Richard D. Hoverland, 79, of Dover passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Union Hospital following a sudden illness.
He was born in Dover on October 16, 1941 the son of the late Harold and Helen Adams Hoverland. Richard was also preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Ruth Ann (William) Lieser; nephew, Jeff Lieser.
Richard was a 1959 graduate of Dover High School, and served with the Army Reserve. He retired from Reeves after many years of service. Richard was a 39 year member of AA, an organization he devoted his life to. He could always be found helping a fellow member or being a sponsor, there wasn’t anything Richard wouldn’t do to help someone in need. He was an avid racing fan who especially loved dirt track racing; he also enjoyed bowling in his younger years.
Richard will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kimberly Hastings (companion, Marty Menefee) of Gnadenhutten; grandchildren, Zachary and Danielle (companion, TJ Barcus); great grandson, Dresden; niece, Pam Lieser; nephews, Pat (Jeanie) Lieser, Mark Lieser; great nephews, Mike Lieser and Jon (Hillari) Lieser.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 6th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Brian Flood officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. The family will be greeting friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Masks and social distancing will be observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
